Privacy policy.

faro is a macOS app that runs on your Mac. It has no accounts, no telemetry and sends your information to no server of its own. This page explains what it stores, where it connects and which permissions it uses. It covers the app and this website.

Last updated: October 23, 2026.

What stays on your Mac

  • Your settings, channels, profiles and photo history (~/Library/Application Support/faro).
  • The clipboard history, with text and images, and the file shelf (which stores references, not copies).
  • The current photo of each display (~/Library/Caches/faro) and the photos you save yourself in ~/Pictures/faro.
  • Internet measurements and appearance. None of this leaves your Mac.

Clipboard

  • faro ignores what password managers mark as secret and anything copied from apps you exclude.
  • You can pause the history, clear it and pin what matters. Pinned items are not deleted automatically.

Which servers it connects to

  • Only when you use the feature: the photo services (Wallhaven, Wikimedia Commons, Bing, Art Institute of Chicago, NASA and Picsum), Open-Meteo for weather and Apple’s speed test (networkQuality). Each receives the minimum needed to answer, such as the topic you typed or the city.
  • To tell you about new versions, faro requests the public latest.json file from this site once a day. It sends no identifiers or data from your Mac; like any web request, the server sees your IP address and the app’s name and version. You can turn it off in General.
  • If you turn on synced lyrics (you can turn them off in Notch), faro sends the title and artist of the playing song to lrclib.net.
  • If you use Spotify, the album art is downloaded from i.scdn.co while something plays.
  • These services have their own privacy policies.

macOS permissions

  • All are optional and asked the first time you use the feature: Accessibility (full keyboard lock and auto-paste), Automation (Finder, Music and Spotify), Calendars, Bluetooth, Notifications and the Downloads and Desktop folders (for download and screenshot notices, off by default).
  • The camera and microphone indicator only says whether they’re in use: faro never opens them or records anything.
  • If you don’t grant a permission, that feature doesn’t work and everything else stays the same. You can remove them any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

This website

  • It uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. It only stores in your browser, if allowed, your choice of light or dark theme.
  • It is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google), which may log technical visit data, such as the IP address, to operate the service.

Your rights and contact

  • Since faro doesn’t keep your data outside your Mac, deleting it is as simple as removing the folders above. If you have questions about this policy, write to us from Conecta Lab’s contact page.
  • If the policy changes, this page will reflect it with a new date.
